â You are the expert in the field!
â You have lot of relevant and recent experience in the same field.
â Yet – when communicating to someone about it, hold your horses.
â Stop thinking intuitively about how much you can and will talk about this.
â Stop default mode of dumping all your years of acquired knowledge to other person.
â Take a pace back and think – what other person is expecting.
â In other words – what other ear is hoping to hear. (Thus Alter-ear or Alter-lobe in the title)
â (Put yourself in their shoe – and think what are they expecting from you. )
â Start pre-preparation.
â Think introspectively – if given a chance, what are they asking you?
â What’s their single most important – one and only question?
â Answer only that question.
â And then give them an actual chance to probe you more.
â Follow-up and expand your communication to follow their line of thought.
â You are still an expert.
â But now you have become a recognized expert.
â Remember “communication” is better a “conversation” – not a one way radio.
